It seems like this is more and more the case on more and more websites. Don't they realize it is irritating and frustrating and they lose traffic this way? I followed a link to an article on Answers.com, hadn't been there before. There's a video for my article, and it doesn't auto start, so I think I'm fine and start reading. All of a sudden I'm hearing audio, so I start looking at other tabs. Finally I come back to Answers.com and start scrolling, and off screen, way down from where I was -- and in the sidebar no less -- is a crap ad playing. So I went back up to their search bar -- which says "Ask us anything" and put in "How can I stop the video sidebar from automatically loading and playing on Answers.com?" They were silent on that one. Sheesh. At least facebook allows you to disable autoplayback of videos in your feed. And while I'm at it, kudos to AF for not autoloading/playing videos. Ads are here, but at least they aren't that intrusive.
