    Hi all,

I have a problem. I checked Auto Update apps in the settings of the market, but none of them check themselves so none of them update. Ideas?

    Thanks!

The settings in the market basically enable auto updating as a feature. However, you have to individually go into apps and enable each one to auto update. It may be a pain, but there is a reason for this, as you may have apps that you don't wish to auto update and want to exclude them from doing so. Previously, I was having problems with google maps on my original droid, and the recent versions were hugely problematic. I reinstalled an older version that was stable and disabled auto updating for that app. Same with Facebook....I didn't want any of the new "features" (more privacy invasion) so I disabled updates. There was also another app I had and the developer removed a feature in a newer version and so I was able to block that auto update.

Yep, Tim is exactly right - I appreciate the ability to separate out the global permission of, "do you want to allow any auto-updating?" from "do you want this particular app to auto-update?"

I have it turned off globally now because I don't like my phone doing things that I haven't asked it to do ;)

Ah I see. That is quite annoying. Do you happen to know if I backup those settings in Titanium or a NANDroid if it would remember after a factory reset?

Normally neither do I, but I don't like having to go through multiple updates because they pile up after a while!
