Hi , again I have been receiving a Samsung update for my S3 GT-I9300 which I bought from Amazon, it has been working great but I wonder why when I try to apply the Samsung update I follow the instructions and the phone turns off and start with the droid figure and a status progress bar, when the updating gets to 32% the droid figure turns over with an red X and the phone restarts with no problem or update at all, actually it says it has the Android 4.04 , it is rooted and the compilation number says it is I9300XXBLH3 I also have a S2 and it was updated with the latest OTA update without problem, I just followed the instructions and voila but with my S3 I am presenting this problem,

Any idea or suggestion to update my phone to the latest Android OS ?

    Regards,

    TEEH

so youre rooted, do you have custom recovery?
And do you want to stay rooted?

No, I do not have a custom recovery and yes I pretend to stay rooted as many apps i have in the phone requires root.

    Thanks

First thing id do is install a custom recovery and titanium backup app. Then you can backup your apps, do a data wipe in recovery, flash either a 4.4 custom rom or if you like the samsung stuff, a samsung 4.3 rom thats already rooted with Knox removed. Then restore your apps.
If you flash official samsung 4.3 youll lose root and get the dreaded Knox bootloader

The bootloader isn't the real problem though, it is what it does. You'll definitely trip the knox flag installing a custom recovery (if rooting doesn't do it any way) and void your warranty (not definite, but assume it would be lost). The only disadvantages about a "Knoxed" bootloader are the warranty problems due to tripping it's flag, not being able to downgrade to an earlier firmware and rendering the Knox application useless. All three things are permanently affected, but it is not the end of rooting fun.

Very true Funky. It isn't necessary to get Knox.

I don't know if the SGSIII is getting 4.4 (KitKat) officially from Samsung, if it is getting Knox might become inevitable. Still why bother while there are perfectly good versions of KitKat out there already for the SGSIII, Knox free :)

Yeah mine is flying on 4.4.2 but then ive never liked touchwiz anyway. It makes me sick in my mouth a bit when i see it on peoples phones :)
Aparently the s3 will get official kitkat this year (without ART and with Knox)
