Automatic Brightness Adjustment Missing

Just bought a Galaxy S4 and it seems to be missing a feature that is on my S3, namely the ability to control the range of brightness when in Automatic Brightness mode. On my S3 when viewing the Brightness option in Settings/My Device and the Auto option is checked there is an "Automatic Brightness Adjustment" slider that allows you the ability to adjust the range of automatic brightness. On the S4 this option is missing. Either accept the default Automatic brightness level or use the manual brightness settings. This seems like a backwards step on a newer phone. Is it possible that there some other setting that would impact this option?
Both phones are with the same carrier, both have Android 4.4.2.
