Check out HSN show listings for Saturday March 26th. Listings indicate special shows throughout the day promoting the "New" version of Nook Color and its' enhanced capabilities.

    Retail Value: $504.00
    HSN Price: $379.95
    Sale Price: $299.90
    or 4 payments of $74.97

    Don't forget: Shipping & Handling: $11.95

Seems like alot for a product with a list price of $249

Wow, HSN is selling it for above MSRP? Looks like they are bundling an SD card with 100 ebooks. I suppose if at least 5-10 or so of them are books you would have purchased elsewhere, it's a decent deal, but that's doubtful.

There is definitely no hardware change, right?

If we've rooted, is there a way to prevent it from auto-updating?

they're saying that there is no way to stop the OTA update, unless you have CWR on eMMC (CWR blocks OTA updates).

My question is, what happens to a rooted nook (with OC kernal) that is forced to 2.2? Does it reboot and I have a stock Nook again? OR, does to flub everything and I'll have to do some work to get the Nook working again?

It has a retail value of $504? That number seems arbitrarily high...

    Cool find.

Hopefully by then Honeycomb will be well on its way, pretty much making this irrelevant to most of us.

    From goodereader.com:

All of this is still unconfirmed though there has been some developments on the Nook front that is suggesting the update to Android Froyo for the Nook Color is coming soon. In fact, it might be as soon as Monday the 25th of April itself. At least, a few forum posts made by some Barnes & Noble employees is suggestive of this Like some employees revealed they are to receive training for the new app store that will be up on Monday. Now the update is also expected to open up the Nook Color to quite a few apps as well as introduce an app store like client from which users can buy and install apps on their Nook Colors. So it will be perhaps safe to assume the Android Froyo is indeed coming to the Nook Color. Then there also has been some interesting changes in the Barnes & Noble website as well as they are no onger referring to the Nook Color as an e-reader. Instead, it is now being called

This would be so great. I need the nook apps (My kid loves the read-to-me stories) but I would love a flash capable tablet.

One of the annoyances about the NC which I really hope they did away with was any sideloaded books were not considered books but were files and files cannot go on the home screen or the scrolly-history-thingy at the bottom of the screen.

I actually returned my first NC when I discovered that because I felt it was bad form to treat non-B&N books as "second class" files. (Shortly after I found out about rooting and got the reader for a better price anyway.)

So I'm putting out the positive energy that this update removes the anti-B&N prejudice!
