I just saw a video of the background animations for the Nexus One's home screen. I am not sure what is controlling it, so i ask, is that a product of Android 2.1, is it Sense UI(being the phone is a HTC phone) or is it the processor and does anyone think that running those animations will strain the battery.

    It's not Sense UI.

But there will usually always be an HTC Version of a phone, later on down the line.

It's more likely a product of the 2.1. Thought Google seems to be making stock android more and more like Sense.

The rumors say that all the animated background react to what you're doing with the phone by taking input from the touchscreen, accelerometer, compass etc.
