    Hi All,

Like every user probably did, I did a backup of my contacts and text messages before I updated to 2.1. I used the standard messaging app for this, thinking that I would be able to import them using the new messaging app.

However in 2.1, the messaging app does not have the feature to import the texts. And know I don't have any idear on how to get my texts back.

I already tried to install the original mmsg app from android 1.6, but that is a no go, as I expected.

Does someone have a clue on how to recover this ?

Else I have to revert back to 1.6, import and backup again using a different app and then update to 2.1 again. Losing all my setting for the second time.

If you have to go to the flash back to 1.6 then I would suggest an app called SMS Backup & Restore which I have found pretty good but haven't had to use it in relation to the update. What a pain in the rear tho. Let us know how you get on.

my question is why does everyone bang on about backing up their messages ???

some cooking recipes in there or something

when its been spoke about forget it - and if its that important, forward it on to another SIM

Why cant you just use the backup and restore that comes with the phone works a charm for me?

A lot of people are having issues restoring the backup they made with the 1.6 app. It's a common issue.

I actually DO save recipes as text messages sometimes, though ColorNote is probably better for such things.
