    I know there is an app for an iphone.. Is there something like that for the droid? Thanks

    It's not an app, but if you go to mobile.vzw.com/myvzwportal then click on "my usage" it will show you. This will work on any Android device on Verizon.

    You could give "3g watchdog" a try. It might help you out.

    3g watchdog or Network Monitor are good

    I do not know how to explain... let's say you have an wireless access point in front of you and you want to see if that access point is working great or sending out a good signal.. makes sense??

    Sounds like you're looking for something like "wifi analyzer." It shows you all the access points in range and their signal strength.
