Recently I noticed my phone was often running really slow and taking 5 seconds+ to open apps or even respond when I press something. So I searched for a good way to speed it up and found an app called watchdog lite which monitors CPU and RAM usage and notifies me if any apps are using an excessive amount of RAM or processing power. Today my phone has been slower than ever and watchdog keeps telling me (about every ten minutes) that "base system is detected over the threshold" and that it is using 400mb of RAM. But because Base system isn't an app I can't kill it. I don't even know what Base system is. I've had that watchdog app for nearly a week now and this is the first time it's detected anything being over the threshold. Is it normal base system to use this much ram?
I've attached a screenshot of the watchdog page. And the phone is a Moto g 4g LTE. It has 800mb or something like that RAM.
    Thanks for any help!

    Ok I did that.
The phone does seem a bit faster but it always does when I restart it. However I'm still getting the warnings about base system using to much RAM.

    I will do now.
So it was just the app that was causing the problem?

Is there anything I can do to make my phone faster? At the moment it is almost unusable. Every time I use it I have to resist throwing it at a wall. Although the only thing making me resist doing this is that I quite like the case and wouldn't want to scratch it. This phone is twice as powerful as my old iPhone 4s in tech specs but way slower in real life. I just wish I had my old phone back now.

Aside from doing a clear cache partition, you could go one step further and do a factory reset, but you'll lose your pics and videos and documents. If you use Google it should reinstall all your apps. The Moto G is sluggish at best, my wife's is also slow. But I think that's as good as it will get
