    Basic question.

Im rooted. How do I keep updated? I should just search for 'new' kernals and 'new' radios? Presumably the ota updates are to update radios etc. How do I know when I should update? Thanks.

I tried to start a separate thread but kept getting logged out.

i made a thread for you.

to stay in the loop as far as updates go just keep checking here on this forum. we usually keep everyone informed on what is going on.

as far as updating goes start by reading this:http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/347533-official-gingerbread-2-3-rooted-evo-4g.html.

also it is not necessary to update your radios. some say that they give better battery life and a better signal but i have not seen this. of course it really depends on where you are at location wise.

as far as software goes the easiest way is to flash a gingerbread rom. we have stock gingerbread and then are a ton of custom ginegerbread roms that you could flash. we have a http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/284413-roms-kernels-download-page.html sticky that has most of the gingerbread roms available. i would recommend that you try either mikg2.4 or synergy rc2.

hope that helps. any questions feel free to ask.

I would like to chime in if I may.

I would like to +1 ocn's recommendation of MikG 2.41. I run this and it's awesome. Its very much just like the stock GB rom, but with some enhancements. Its fully functional, stable, everything works. Sense 2.1 + parts of sense 3.0. It has the new ring lockscreen, sweet 3.0 weather, 3.0 messaging app, etc.
Just my recommendation, do what you're comfortable with. :D

Do any of these roms allow for rotating the home screen(s)? Thanks. I mean to go horizontal instead of upright view.

By default MikG won't, but there is a mod you can flash, and it does allow landscape home screen.
Synergy has this right out of the box, but synergy isn't as close to stock as MikG.
So the answer to the landscape question as absolutely. The new sense roms will rotate the home screen.

Is the landscaping mod included in another theme or can I get a stand-alone modd?

** I'm seeing it must be part of the updated rosie mods.

Sweet thanks for the info. Ok now to build the gumption to Swap Roms. Ive swapped everything else, kernals, radios etc. Not the rom yet. So this week maybe. Fingers crossed for no failure!

And yes I will nandbackup. Im not sure how to restore if I do blow it but Ill read that before I switch roms. Most mods have been easier than I would have imagined .... so far! lol thanks again.

I haven't tried Clockwork Recovery, so I'm no help there... But with Amon Ra, it's just as easy as backing up a nandroid. Just click restore instead of backup.
