My battery percentage goes down by 10s, so I don't have accurate insight of how much is really left.
My friend has the Cliq and his goes down by 1s. Which is a lot better.

Anyone like to explain this to me?

This has actually covered. Numus went into detail with it along with some of the other haxsung group. Do a search in the All things root subforum. That should find you an answer. Just off the top of my head changing it was lowered with root access into a zefie kernel at some point. I think down to five's. I don't mess with root though at this point cause I have a mac and I can't do anything to root with it last I checked so I gave upand will wait for 2.1. Just search though and you will find out any new info on the battery meter and root.

I was looking for a solution that doesn't involve rooting. Is that you people look to?

There IS NO solution other then rooting since the code is compiled into the kernel.. please read first
