I've read many posts on the forums in different places.but answers seem to conflict.

So....

What is the best method to charge your battery.I tend to let it drain completely and them fully recharge .
Posts I've read stated that you should NOT do this.

PLease help

HTC Hero uses a Lithium-ion battery.

Answer to your question
The battery prefers a partial rather than a full discharge. Frequent full discharges should be avoided when possible. Instead, charge the battery more often or use a larger battery. There is no concern of memory when applying unscheduled charges.

Lithium-ion batteries are incredibly popular these days. You can find them in laptops, PDAs, cell phones and iPods. They're so common because, pound for pound, they're some of the most energetic rechargeable batteries available.
Lithium-ion is a low maintenance battery, an advantage that most other chemistries cannot claim. There is no memory and no scheduled cycling is required to prolong the battery's life. In addition, the self-discharge is less than half compared to nickel-cadmium, making lithium-ion well suited for modern fuel gauge applications. lithium-ion cells cause little harm when disposed.

They have no memory effect, which means that you do not have to completely discharge them before recharging, as with some other battery chemistries.
Lithium-ion batteries can handle hundreds of charge/discharge cycles.

Charge it when you want, for however long you want. It doesn't matter. You will need to replace the battery is a few years depending on use no matter what anyway. Don't cost a lot either.

With Li-Ion batteries, you don't have to worry about the battery's memory near as much as with a Ni-Ca or Ni-H battery, but there are a few things you need to be careful with.

Draining the battery completely every time is generally discouraged because Li-Ion can be ruined if the charge drops too low. Of course there is a circuit in place to prevent this from happening through normal use, but because batteries still drain slowly even when not in use, it can drop below that fail-safe level.

So, the best way to charge a Li-Ion battery? When you first get it, let it drain completely and then charge it completely. After that first charge, you can do it however it's convenient for you, but it's suggested that you drain it completely and charge it completely once every 30 or so cycles.
