Does anyone use Battery Doctor? I do because a cousin who has the EVO (never rooted) reccomended it. When his battery is fully charged, a female voice says something like "Your battery is now charged" When I do tthesame on my phone, nothing happens. He swears he hasn't changed any settings and we're running the same version of the app. Does anyone hear know anything about this?

I've never heard of it, but I'll look into it and let you know what I get.

I don't know if this means anything, but in the middle of the screen it says to leave the app running and it'll tell you when fully charged. I'm not sure what it means to keep in running, since when I hit the home button to get to my home screen, then push and hold to see my list of recent apps, it's not listed. I don't know if we have to keep it open and on the screen for it to be considered running.

I have tried leaving the app open, locking the screen and letting it charge to 100. Still nothing.

Mine got done charging and the app just gave me the standard notification tone I have set up. The app wasn't open at the time, so that answers that question. Not sure what your cousin has set up to have it notify him vocally.

I've had it play my ringtone also, but I cannot, for the life of me, seem to get the vocal notification. No biggie, though, thank you for trying to help me. I appreciate it.

You're welcome. I figured I'd try and see what happened.

Something of note, these guys do occasionally have different tweaks for different OS's or devices. It may just not be enabled that way for our phone. If the app has it's own notification sound settings, try opening the apk and getting the sound file on your own.

I had an app that did that when I first got this phone. I don't remember the name but I don't think it was battery doctor. Kinda bothered me really, I'm glad it doesn't do that anymore.

Only a few developers on the Market have the courtesy to do it, but they'll say what OS or device their screenshots or mentioned features are from if it makes a difference.

I know this is an old thread so you probably do not need this now, but for others... it sounds like your cousin has an app like ReadItToMe that can read aloud app notifications (it can also read aloud SMS texts and incoming phone call names). You can control what it reads aloud and what it does not. I like it, but many would find it annoying and/or are often in places where reading it aloud would be inappropriate. Your cousin may also have a female voice package installed like Ivona's British Amy (she is very good).
