I started work at 7 am at 100%, and it's 5 PM now and my phone is at 34%. I've turned off GPS,lowered the screen brightness and don't have an animated back ground. I surfed the web for maybe an hour and a half total and used you tube for about 40mins at full volume. It tends to linger around the 30-40% mark before it drains out. Is this normal performance? I took it to metro pcs and they told it it just drains a lot because of the snap dragon processor in it. Any help is appreciated and ty in advance.

Oh also they told me not to charge it over night as it's bad for the battery. But I think everyone charges their phones while they sleep.

Also wanted to add in a huge fan of the zmax phone line. I personally went from zmax to zmax pro day one. I love this phone but am not sold on the battery life. As I bought it specially to get my Pokémon go on with.

    1. The people at the store usually don't know much of anything.

    2. It sounds like you have apps that are running in the background eating your battery while the phone is supposed to be asleep.

I'm not really running anything I used the broswer, text messenger and YouTube. And I always close out my background programs. What's your battery life average?

I love the PRO and enjoyed a year and a half of trouble free usage from my original ZMAX. The original ZMAX was the best phone I've ever owned. The battery was AMAZING.

There are people here who will say that battery life on the PRO is just as good. That's not so. I was a heavy user on the original and I'm a heavy user on the PRO. The original ZMAX had better battery life. Mostly, I imagine, it's due to the HD screen and Android Marshmallow. It still has really good battery life... but it isn't as good as the original ZMAX. Which saddens me a bit since I considered battery life the premeire feature of the original.

Also, there's an issue that some are having where a 100% full notice appears before the battery is ever fully charged. Some are trying to paint this as a "feature" to protect the battery. In fact it's a defect that shows that perhaps someone needs to look at battery management on the PRO to see what is screwing things up. Perhaps an update will address this issue.

Again, I love the phone. But these are the facts and issues.

To the OP... make sure wifi, Bluetooth and other such options are off. Also try restarting your phone.

First, if you are comparing the battery life of the zmax pro on marshmallow to the battery life of the first zmax running stock KitKat then of course the first zmax is going to win that contest because you are talking about two completely different versions of android with major differences.
However, if you compare the battery life to what the original zmax got after installing lollipop or marshmallow you'd probably find that it's the same or maybe even better.
When you take into account the fact that the zmax pro has a bigger display with a higher resolution, a faster processor, and a newer version of android, you can't expect it to get the same amount of battery life as it's predecessor. With all these differences taken into account, zte would have to put a much larger battery into the phone for it to get the same battery life as a lower spec device (the original zmax) running an older version of android. This doesn't seem very practical to me since the zmax pro already borders on being impossible to use with one hand even for someone like me with fairly large hands.

About the battery stopping charging before it hits 100%, you say some others (me) are trying to "paint" this as a "feature" rather than an issue but I was only suggesting a possible explanation. I wasn't trying to "paint" anything to be something it isn't. I was making an educated guess based on the fact that the only time this ever happens on my phone is when I'm playing need for speed (which really gives the phone a workout) when the battery and CPU are already getting hot. You say it is definitely a defect and are presenting this as irrefutable fact so where is your proof that the developers didn't implement it as a safeguard to keep the battery and CPU from overheating (which happened all the time on the original zmax)?

First, you just repeated everything that I already stated in my own post.. that the battery doesn't last as long as the original because of the HD screen and Marshmallow.

Second, If a phone has two battery notifications and one tells you that it's at 100% and to unplug your phone when the actual battery gage is at 70%... that's a DEFECT. Hopefully they will fix this via an update.

    P.S.

No insult was intended toward you and your suggestion that it was some kind of safety feature.

OK. I get what you are saying. I had 2 main points which may have gotten lost in what I was saying due to me being kind of annoyed when I typed my last post.

    1. The battery life of the zmax pro seems to be as good or better than the battery life the zmax got (when running lollipop or marshmallow).

    2. You might be right about the battery stopping short of 100% being a bug in the firmware, BUT regardless of whether it is there intentionally or not, it keeps the battery from overheating while charging (something that happened regularly with the first zmax) and therefore is likely lengthen the total life span of the battery over time. Excessive heat gradually causes lithium batteries to wear out more quickly.

I'm sorry for being so aggressive in my previous post.
Did you ever have lollipop or marshmallow installed on your 1st gen zmax?

It's OK, we all get passionate sometimes about certain topics, I apologize as well if I came off as rude or argumentative.

No, I never installed Lollipop or Marshmallow on the ZMAX, I never rooted the phone. The experience was so great that I didn't want to disturb anything on the phone. It was a tough decision to leave that phone behind. But the PRO has a better OS, and more features. I just wish the battery lasted a bit longer. Battery life is VERY important to me. I'm still very happy with the phone... and the battery is great when compared to many other phones, but the original ZMAX set the bar pretty high.

There's a video online that compares the STYLO 2 PLUS battery to the ZMAX PRO. After about 20 minutes usage the STYLO is at 99% and the ZMAX PRO is at 92%. I'd rather have the PRO, but that comparison says a lot about the power drain happening on the PRO and it's kind of a disappointment.

So not to be off topic lol. But I sloved my issue by keeping the phone in battery saver mode all day.it is 77% after having it at 100% at 7 am and it being 8pm now. Which is kinda a disappointment as I'd like to have it full power all the time idelaly. If that makes sense.

That wasn't really a very good battery test, obviously the stylo 2 plus isn't accurately measuring battery drain. He says that was about 20 minutes of use so let's do some math. If those 20 minutes of use actually used just 1% of the battery power then that means you could continue using the phone like that for approximately 2,000 minutes which equals 33 hours and 20 minutes. But what if the battery level dropped to 98% right after he turned the camera off? Well a 2% drain in 20 minutes would still add up to 16 hours and 50 minutes on a single charge if you do the math.

Now, let's compare that to how the zmax pro was measuring the battery percentage. In 20 minutes of use the battery dropped by 8%. That comes to 1% every 2½ minutes which would add up to 250 minutes per charge. That comes to 4 hours and 10 minutes of heavy use with the brightness turned up.

Taking all of this into account, it seems logical that the zmax pro measures battery usage accurately while the stylo 2 plus does not.

My point here is that it takes a lot more than 20 minutes to compare the battery life of the two devices. In order to get a comparison that was even semi-accurate you would need to keep it up until one of the devices drains all the way to 0% and dies.

Something else worth mentioning is that the zmax pro took less time to load games blew the stylo 2 plus away on antutu benchmark. The stylo 2 plus only got a score in the 25k range while the zmax pro was all the way up around 47k. That is a HUGE difference in performance.

Word masterchief87 is 100 percent right. I've long said the zmax pro comes off of 100 almost immediately compared to other devices I've used. Most others stay at 100 for an unreasonable amount of time then proceed to do a nosedive there after.

The zmax comes off 100 quickly but it drains more slowly down the stretch. Without power saving mode or any extreme measures I can get a minimum of 6 to 7 hrs of screen on time. I have squeezed out 8 or 9 hours SOT at the most.

Far better than the Stylo where I was getting about 5 hrs of sot and that's a big difference when you consider how much more powerful the zmax pro is and the fact the battery is only a little bigger (2900mah on the stylo...3400 mah on the zmax pro)

Pretty amazing if you consider the processors involved... Display size. The fact it's an hd Display etc

Maybe yours is defective? Let's not overlook that possibility

I charged my battery about 2 hours ago from 25% to 100%. 2hrs later and it's still showing 100%. Although I haven't done much besides use the calendar for about 3 minutes. My old zmax would drop from 100% to 98 in the first 10 min.

But did u have to put it in battery saver mode? Because if I leave it in its normal state I can literally watch the battery drain in stand by. I'm trying to gauge if this is uncommon drainage.

I just got the Zmax Pro about 5 days ago, Battery life has been great i'm on day 3 and still have 30+% left. Cell standby is my biggest battery consumer being around 25%. I highly recommend the deep sleep pro battery app it's the only one I've found to actually work. You can set it to basically shut everything down when the screen is off, I went to bed last night with 41% battery and woke up with 41% :). I'm having some issues with Marshmallow though I'll explain in another thread.

I am having a similar thing happen to my zmax pro as well...and I have only had it for 33 days!
    At
first(like up to the first two-three weeks) the battery life on this phone was the best thing about it. I would charge it to 100%, then if I didn't use it like all day (24 hours), when I checked the phone the next day, it had only went down 2%! Now, that was with my screen brightness at about 40-47%.
I also only had 3 apps that I had downloaded...4 now. None of those apps use up much battery power. Plus, I keep 2 of the apps notifications off ,the other two(games) rarely send notifications, and they(the games) don't run in the background. So, those are the only apps I have downloaded, all the rest came with the phone and they still don't use up much battery life.
Most of them I haven't even ran since I got the phone.
So, it is really confusing to me why all of a sudden my battery life has started draining faster than it has in first 3 weeks of me having it. Can someone help me out here?
I already utilize most...if not all of the battery saving tips. I now keep my brightness down to 35-40%, I have wifi off, gps is off, and I don't really use apps.
I use YouTube, gmail(every once in a while), the two game apps, the music player, the video player (twice). See, don't really use apps. I mainly use my browser and go online, but I don't stay online long. I also mainly talk on the phone and send text messages.
Now, here is what gets me, in the first few weeks, I was able to talk on the phone for more than 2 hours without my phone dropping more than 5%, I could talk and text and briefly surf the web, and it wouldn't drop too much. I could watch a video without it dropping too much.
I timed it. Watching videos on YouTube in the browser or in the app makes the phone lose 1% battery life every 3 minutes. Watching videos on the video player app causes the phone to lose 1% battery life every 4minutes. That is reasonable. Surfing the web causes a loss of 1% battery life every 3-4 minutes. Checking Gmail causes a loss of 1% battery life every 3 minutes. Checking and sending texts causes loss of 1% battery life every 3-4 minutes. That's fine. I didn't really mind that, since it has been happening from day one, and since I am actively doing something. When the phone wasn't active though, and it was in sleep mode, the phone didn't discharge. Not really.
Now, no matter what the phone is doing, it's discharging! It discharges more now while it's sleeping than it did just two weeks ago and last week.
What is wrong with my phone????

    o_O

I was having a problem with my phone draining fast. In one hour my Galaxy S5 would lose 12%. My Solution was to Go into Settings, Location Then Mode. There is 3 Different modes (High Accuracy, Power Saving, GPS Only) My phone was set to High accuracy. I Put it to GPS Only and Now I don't have a Problem with my phone Draining Fast. Hope this helps.
