I always charge my phone overnight, but recently when I take it out of the charger, it drops to about 85% without me having done anything at all.. how do I fix this because it is really scaring me now.

It definitely shows the 100% icon in the top left.. basically I unplug it and sleep for another 20-30 mins, and it gets around 85 then..

if you are using a task auto killer , it could cause this as it's closing apps and android reopens them
but this also could be just an issue of battery calibration, let it on till the battery is out of juice , then while it's off , let it recharge till it's full
after that , if you can get into recovery , go there and reset battery status thingie [wipe battery data or something]
then use it again till battery is gone [don't recharge in the middle]

hopefully that'll fix any battery calibration issue

I have the very same issue, ever since the gingerbread upgrade. No matter at what percentage the phone is out when I start charging it over night, in the morning the phones shows 100% and yet unplug the charger - the level drops to just where it started the night before.

I have done a factory reset, and Samsung said check the battery (which costs

There was a thread on this somewhere. Some of this is to save the life of the battery. It doesn't stay charged at 100 percent. If they didn't have a "shutoff" it would burn out the battery.
