Help Battery Heating Up

I live on the edge of ATT cellular coverage. Noticed on more than one occasion the handset heats up dramatically, even while just in my pocket (no active use). Has become so hot that I've had to turn the handset off and put it in the fridge for 3-5 mins to cool down. Anyone with similar experiences/remedies? Thanks.

Not sure how old your battery is, but I would definitely change it.

It's possible it has been damaged and damaged batteries can be dangerous: there's a story this morning about a guy in HK who claims his house was burnt down by an exploding phone

If the battery is relatively new you might be able to get it replaced under warranty, but legit batteries aren't too expensive anyway.
