Battery issue today

I had a strange thing happen with my phone, the battery today for the first time seemed to drain very quickly and when I looked at the phone on the top I noticed the GPS signal come on and go off once in a while. I checked under applications running and it does not show GPS as running.

Also the phone is very hot today, more so than before.

Any ideas?

I would disable GPS when you don't need it, it uses mucho battery. Disable is not the same as just not running too. GPS shuts off when it isn't in use. Still, I'd say if it happens again take it back and get it swapped.

Throw the power widget somewhere on one of your home screens, and turn off GPS.

Also check out which processes are running. Anything that can try to obtain your location, like Maps, or even weather applications, can try to use GPS to determine your location. Weatherbug is notorious for this, but you can change it's options so that it doesn't try to use GPS.
