    Hey,

so ever since I guess upgrading to 2.1, my battery life has been awful. Whereas I used to maybe only use 10% battery after the first 5-6 hours of my day, I find myself now down to 60% in that same timespan. The same apps I always run in the background are and everything has remained constant. What could be the issue?

it could be that you never actually quit the application, probably the most common battery problem. what i end up doing too much is just clicking the home key when i'm done using an app but the app is still causing my droid to do all of these evil little things behind the screen. thus i have acquired an advanced task killer. this allows the user to 'kill' all of the preferred apps. that way you can keep that battery from ever going below 80% after 7-8 hours!

I thought so too, so i tried clsoing them from task killer and still same problem... frustrating. Is there a way to get a new battery for your phone and just put it in?

yeah, its not an iphone, ya go and buy a 20 or 30 dollars battery. but odds are that you can wait for an update/fix. I think ese81 has some battery life issues for some. seems i am suffering too and i thought it was cyanogen mod, but i think its something in ese81

I use my phone moderately and am always always charging it. charge over night , charge on my 45 minute car ride to school, charge USB in the school library , and on my ride home as well. It seems that my battery is always close to dying. I use the power control widigt, auto sync always off, background data off, GPS off and location by wireless networks off. I am running BB 7.5. I cannot go more then 10 hours on a full charge, is this normal ? and use TK all the time

TK doesn't help. Go flash to a different ROM. All BB has problems with it constantly downloading the 2.1 update in the background which sucks battery life. Renaming the file isn't enough.

im having the same problem. my battery life was fine on ese53 and it would only go down maybe to 70% or 60% by the end of the day, but ever since upgrading to ese81 (with same room), my battery life is down to 40% and 30% now. not sure what the problem is..

If you have Beautiful Widgets then check the settings, there is one setting in it that will drain your battery fast. I had the same issue until I disabled it. I believe it is listed on the change notes.

You should really read people's words rather than ignore them...I will say it 1 more time and not again. The reason why your battery life is so bad is because your constantly downloading the same 2.1 update even though your already flashed to 2.1 (via Pete's Bugless Beast). He, along with many other developers, did not completely disable the update feature of the phone and it keeps attempting to either download, or apply, the 2.1 OTA update, but you do not have the otacert (or w/e it's called) file, and will overall drain your battery. I have had the same problem as you, and I changed ROM's to a more updated one and my battery life has been fine. Don't believe me? Go to settings and check for updates. There will be some thing there saying that you should update. So please, I see this thread so much, just change ROMs.

And no, I am not experiencing faltered battery life with 2.1 nor with the ESE53 or ESE81 builds. The reason you have better battery life on 53 was because you were not constantly downloading the OTA update (was not released) or trying to find a nonexistant file (probably was renamed). This all lies in user/developer error.

I am having the exact same issue, started seeing the problem yesterday. Went through looking at Task Killer to delete apps well. In fact that is why I joined this forum. Does anyone know of the application that will allow you to see how much battery life is remaining?

I have no system updates. This is so weird that my battery life has been all of a sudden so bad lately. Also my homescreen icons disappear all the time, without restartiun how do i get them back? And my droid restarts a lot on its own

I have to recharge my battery at least twice a day. I have adopted the attitude to bring my charger with me everywhere I go. I wake up every morning to a flashing almost dead droid everyday if I forget to plug it in for the night after a mid-afternoon full charge :) So 60% at the end of the day sounds great to me rofl.

EDIT: well i see you are now at 30-40 percent which is still much better lol. So wait should I call Verizon and ask for a new battery?

2.1 has increased my battery life. But when I play pocket empires and armored strike all day, it still ends up around 30-40%.

    Stats:
    16h 55m 57sec since unplugged.

    Display 29%
    armored strike 28%
    phone idle 11%
    Cell Standby 9%
    etc.

    Currently 30%

I made it ten hours with 30 percent battery life left and 15% no signal, which is a high battery life for me

i already fixed this issue by putting otacerts.zip in the right folder and updated, allowing sprecovery to block it so now my phone says "system is currently up to date" but i STILL have bad battery life.

Programs running in background? Wifi off? I can go up to 25-30 hours using my phone lightly, 18-20 hours with moderate use, and 14-16 hours with pretty heavy use (screen on for a good 2-3 hours), playing games, browsing, taking pics, talking, texting.

Might be some type of ROM error. Are you rooted? If your running stock, I don't know what to say. 2.1 uses a bit more battery with the live wallpapers, if enabled anyways.

This is an all time high for me. I have set my brightness all the way down, GPS, WiFi, Sync, location through cell towers, and background data all off. I have my screen timeout set to the lowest setting.

i have the same issue. when i first got my Droid, the battery lasted all day, no problem. I loved it. Lately, however, it only lasts half the day,and i'm not even using it much.

i've read these forums but i don't understand the comments such as:

"...but you do not have the otacert (or w/e it's called) file, and will overall drain your battery. I have had the same problem as you, and I changed ROM's to a more updated one and my battery life has been fine. Don't believe me? Go to settings and check for updates. There will be some thing there saying that you should update. So please, I see this thread so much, just change ROMs."

I went to settings and didn't see anything that was saying i should udpate (in what part of settings? applications?)

I also don't know what it means to "change ROMs."

i sure would love some help...
