How quickly does it wake up mobile internet. When I used it, and it was only for a few days I seem to recall waiting around for 10 to 20 seconds for mobile internet to turn on. Just a bit irritating.

I also seem to recall that Juice defender changed my APN settings and sent the mobile internet to a different address. (this last bit may need confirming)

I'm using 3 and villain rom 12 rooted

Im on 3uk, using cm6 alpha. but back when I was running VR12, I used juice defender with no problems. It never changed my apn. As for waking up and waiting for mobile internet, I never noticed any slack. whats your signal like? are you on the latest radio?

Using JuiceDefender, the mobile intranet takes 3/4 seconds to connect for me. WiFi is a similar time.

How do other people get on with juice defender. I've seen it recommended several times, but I don't really know how to set it up. So I just use default settings.

It seems a bit cumbersome and I'm not certain that I'm really seeing much benefit.

It does have a pretty poor interface, that's for sure. It really needs splitting up into multiple screens.

This is how I have (UltimateJuice) set up on the advanced settings:

- Enabled and Notification turned on at the top.
- Mobile Data and WiFi toggling turned on.
- Timeout switched off. It never seems to work reliably on any rom I've tried.
- CPU switched off too, I use other apps for that.
- I have schedule switched on and set up for 30 seconds every 5 minutes. I also have the 'Quick' setting turned on, which will make sense in a second.
- I have the night option turned on and set up for the hours I'm asleep.
- Battery turned on so it wont activate under 20% battery.
- Traffic is turned on, at the default values, so it won't switch off the internet if something's using it. That's why you can afford to have the Quick setting enabled.
- I don't use the peak option.
- The screen option is activated
- I don't use the location option; I'm not sure how reliable it is.

I tried it, and refunded it, personally I found the benifits negligable.

Battery staid at around the high 40's until quarter to 10. Then just plummeted to 26 by quarter past 10.
Not changed since then.

Here are the running services. I wonder which of these I can disable or entirely get rid of

GTalkService - I don't think I use this, can I dump it, if so how?

Calendar - fair enough

ObexService - hmm looks like something to do with syncing

VillainROM updater - I'm still not sure how to use this or even if its necessary with villain 12

UpdateCheckService - assume this has something to do with villainrom

Maps - didn't know it was running but ho hum

LocationFriendService - is this latitude?

News and Weather - fair enough

GenieRefreshService - Can I put him back in his lamp

HTC_IME mod - keyboard I presume

BBC News - more news

Update service - for the news

The Weather Channel - I like the way they present the weather, shame accuweather widgets are a bit dodge, because their forecast is often spot on.

Astrid - where would I be without having her tell me what to do

Skype - for the occasional cheap phonecall

skypeservice - as above

3g watchdog - keep an eye on mobile use

screebl - the only app i've used that has genuinely shown battery improvement

sd card memory widget - just to keep an eye

Internal memory widget - more eyes.

Battery now at 20. Seems to drop pretty quickly when screen is on and battery is low.

wow. nice list. where did you download Skype? it's not on the market for me.

I got hold of skype from the old market when I was on 1.5

I did have fring working, but that has recently stopped.

Now looking at other solutions
