I have a discussion going on with another Galaxy owner about battery life. I have read tons of articles about people with drainage.
I keep the phones sound only on to get calls and texts. If I need internet I use WiFi at home and data out. For directions I use location.
In gray scale the drain is even less drained.
Is this a practical, functional way to set the phone or am I missing something?
I find this way the battery holds up quite well.

Yes a lot of battery drain management is just common sense. If you know the things that use a lot of battery on the device you can manage the drain by keeping those things off unless/until needed. A typical uninformed user who keeps everything on the phone turned on all the time (all radios- WiFi, GPS, BT etc), brightness on max, all sounds and vibrations on, tons of notifications running constantly and so on, and complains about the battery life only has themselves to blame. Unfortunately the "out of the box" default on most devices is "everything on" and a lot of people leave it that way.
