Thought you peeps might be interested in this particularly the bit about syncing and screen light levels. This is for the Desire S but most of these tips will work on any HTC device.

Other battery saving tips for people on HTC branded or stock ROMS:

Turn off animations (Menu > Settings > Display > Animation)

Reduce the number of Home screens

Stay away from 3rd party UIs (launchers)

Don't use task killers

Don't use live wallpapers

General rule: The less pretty your screen, the more power you'll have!
