My battery life had been great until recently. All off a sudden rather than losing a few percentage overnight I'm losing 65%, and I just had my phone replaced on warranty so the battery is not old. Is there a good app I can use to determine the battery vampire that evidently got installed?

Did you do a Wipe Cache Partition deleting all temporary data and nothing else? It might fix it.

I've used Gsam on other phones and it seems that all it ever tells me is that "Android System" is draining my battery. Maybe I'll give Wakelock Detector a try.

No, I'll give that a shot. Once I remember out how to do that on this phone.....

    Thanks guys!

Did you by chance do a major version upgrade after you got it? If you did ... did you do a Factory Data Reset after doing it?

There was a software update, and I did not do a reset, but it seems that it the battery drain started a bit after the upgrade. If the cache clear doesn't work and I can't narrow it down to a problem app, a full reset would be my next step.

Problems can crop up after a major upgrade hours, days, weeks, or months later.

What version of android are you currently at?

5.1. I've lost track of what tasty name they've given the various releases.

Well, last night was a little better. Rather than dropping 65% I "only" lost about 40. I don't know if that's because of the cache clear, some apps I deleted, or just one of those things.

I did run GSAM over night (didn't get a chance to hook to my computer to install Wakelock). I wish I'd taken a screen shot because of course it's changed but when I woke up App Usage was the highest at over 60%, and of the apps "Media" was by far the biggest culprit followed by "Android system". I think "held awake" was significant as well, but as I go back and look not it's down to around 7%.

I just checked the website, and it's saying my phone comes with 5.1, so I'm not sure how "major" and upgrade it was. That's not to say that it couldn't be causing strange problems.

Well crud. I'm trying to install the Wakelock Detector and I keep getting "no devices found" I must be having issues with the driver. All I can think is to try it on a different computer.

Since you did a Wipe Cache Partition and probably did not do a major system upgrade (like 4.4.4 to 5.1) ... try running in Safe Mode disabling all apps you added without uninstalling them. If the problem stops it is caused by an app (or apps) that you added. Then figure out which one it is and remove it.
