Battery not charging even though phone shows that it is connected

I got my new smartphone a week ago and it worked fine until now. But yesterday when I tried charging the phone, it shows that the charger is connected and the phone is charging but it wont go above one percent at all. I charged it overnight in the same condition and yet the same 1 percent thing continues. This morning I removed and inserted the battery again and the charging seems to be normal again. Now my question is that, should I take my phone back? I mean, I did find a solution but I am not sure whether or not the same thing will happen again.

I would think you'd be ok. Likely just some sort of confusion going on with the phone that was reset when you pulled the battery.

I find that if I let my batter die completely I run into this issue. Try not letting the phone die completely.
