Try Battery Status Pro - search for it in the market. It displays percent left and customizable colors based on percent left.

My favorite (at least for now on the original Droid) is "Battery Left" that will allow you to configure status bar battery info and has a great widget. Allow a day or so for it to calibrate with more accurate info. I believe it is free in the market. The photo you are showing involves themes which I am not sure are available yet for the X (hope they are when I get mine). There is a program called Spare Parts which also allows you to add percentage to the regular icon (available in the market) but again, not sure how it runs on the X.

I use Battery Indicator which puts a numerical value of the battery life in the notification bar.
