I just dropped my original incredible and cracked the screen badly and Asurion insurance has told me they do not have any more in stock and they are going to send either a droid x or an incredible 2... i chose the incredible 2.. it comes tomorrow!!! My question is: will the incredible 2 accept the original incredible's extended battery and back piece? or will i not need it because the incredible 2's battery life is supposed to be much better???

The two devices are completely different you will need a new battery and cover.

That's not entirely true. If I'm not mistaken, I've seen people post about filing or cutting the battery tabs so they fit in the Dinc2. You will however need a new battery cover.

well not for the extended batteries that require a new door. only for the slim extended batteries (the 1750 ones from seidio).
