Have you tried another battery? Or seeing if the battery works in a different Atrix? That way you’ll at least get to narrow down the problem.

Does this sort of thing happen to atrix alot or is this something you have never heard of before?

Are you near a store that has them? Try all that there.

I don’t think getting soaked in water is an Atrix-specific problem.

jerofld Fixing stuff is not easy

While rice may or may not pull moisture out of a phone, it certainly does not pull out the minerals that was carried by the water into the electronics. It's these minerals that cause electronics to malfunction.

I doubt it's just your battery that has a malfunction. I'd be willing to bet that your phone is now defective. But you can try to clean off the battery contacts to see if the sediment is causing the battery to not make good contact with the phone.

You could also disassemble the phone completely, like remove the screen, the electronic PCA (computer board), antennae, etc and give all but the screen/glass an alcohol bath using isopropyl alcohol (also called rubbing alcohol). A bath, meaning that you fill something like a bowl and just lightly move the components through the isopropyl so that the minerals are washed out. Let it sit for a few hours. The battery may just be screwed, though.

Or take it to a repair center, explaining that it has water damage. Most will do the same thing for a fee. Taking apart and putting a cell phone back together is a lot harder than it sounds. Especially if you don't have all the right tools.
