Have been waiting for the Marshmallow update for ages. Since installing the phone is much faster, battery life is now worse than ever. Has anyone else noticed this?

I've had to do a factory reset in January due to issues, am trying to get away doing another factory reset if I can help it. I've installed Battery Doctor but not noticing much difference could usually get half day now lucky to get that out of it. Anyone got any ideas of any settings I could alter?

Battery doctor is absolute garbage. Try greenify, it's available on the Google play store. GSam Battery Monitor is another well-regarded app that gives you excellent information on your battery and what items are consuming its charge.

    Hey hey!

You already have on your S6 Edge the Marshmallow update right? Where are you from? Your phone is unlocked or I have some carrier?

Hi, Yes I have updated a fortnight ago. I'm from the UK, phone bought outright not locked to a network. I'm with Vodafone if that helps.

Thanks Snakeyeskm. Have uninstalled battery doctor. Have installed both just hope they can help. It's bizarre how bad the battery life has become since installing marshmallow.

    A couple of suggestions: –

Charge your phone up fully and use it normally during the day without charging. Once the battery level drops significantly, check your GSam screens to identify the specific battery hogs. Recharge it fully and leave it overnight and then check your GSam screens to identify the culprits. It takes a little work but will point out the culprits.

    Best of luck.

Tracking your battery usage with GSam should find your problem.

Just remember, in the future don't be tempted to use any task killers, RAM memory optimizers/boosters, battery savers/repairers, cache cleaners, etc etc. None of that stuff is necessary. They are counterproductive, waste power, disrupt system processes and degrade performance.

Greenify works differently than ordinary task killers and is less harmful. But it is actually beneficial in few situations. I have personally not found it made a significant difference. Use it carefully and sparingly.

I had similar my battery lasted a morning. Did various system cache erases with no joy. Ended up doing factory reset and now it's perfect. Phone has been unplugged for 4hours and it has used 1%
