Battery

My phone is only a week old, & the battery is draining faster than it should for a 3080 mah battery... I looked under battery to see what's using most of it & it's my screen! I have it on the lowest setting for brightness... This is actually my 2nd battery, the first one was no good & ZTE sent me a new one... Why is the screen draining the battery so quickly & how to I get the most optimal usage from such a good battery? FYI, the battery goes down 2-3% just using it for less than 5 minutes & 1% just sitting there.. I love the phone & it's supposed to have excellent battery life but I'm not happy w/ the screen draining it so quickly... I've taken all widgets off too... Thanks for any input!
