Can someone please help explain to me why my battery life is awful on my Hero?

I can tell you anything you need to help diagnose it, and would also like to know if there are any apps/widgets I could d/l to help increase the efficiency of my battery.

    define "awful".

Are you rooted? (I'm assuming not).

Have you updated the firmware to the most recent? (1.56.xxxx)

There's a thread at the top on battery life, some pretty good tips in it.

awful like even when i'm not using it, it seems to drain close to 15% per hour, sometimes more.

not rooted, still haven't done that.

    firmware is most recent.

Don't use task killers. In fact, uninstall any task killers you use.

Once I deleted my task killer, my battery improved dramatically.

    1) Turn your data off when not in use.

    2) Set your social network/google/app refresh intervals to the max allowed, preferably manual (unless you just have to have them update hourly)

    3) Only allow crucial apps to run in the background when phone is sleeping.

    4) If using a task killer, ONLY use when sys mem is low (and experiencing system lag).
