Help Battey plumet and OS process

My GF has a RAZR Maxx going on about 18 months. My parents and sister all have younger Maxxs. The GF's phone battery is terrible like 6 hours on wifi. Looking at a bettery app Android OS is the biggest user, well above the screen useage.

Are there any fixes to this?

Might try doing an FDR to clean out any crap if you haven't already done so.

If you (she) did not do a Factory Data Reset after the last system upgrade to Jelly Bean it is highly recommended. You could try clearing the data cache partition.

If she ran in Safe Mode it and the problem stopped it would indicate that it is caused by an app that she added.

Would a new launcher help? I have a few Aviate invitations left, so I could give her one.

No harm in trying, but I wouldn't expect that to resolve the issue.

We tried the Nova Launcher and it did nothing. Convinced her to do a FDR and use the Nova Launcher and her battery life is back. She said it was as fast as when new.
