I just wanted to start a thread and see what everyone's using to protect their SGS baby.

Any awesome products and recommendations? :D

    Anything we should strongly avoid?

I just got one for my SGS 'baby' tonight. I love it !
I got the soft black rubber (silicone) version and it's exactly what I've been thinking of getting from the day I got my SGS (original). The case (skin) is fully textured and fits perfectly. It has cutouts only for the USB, 3.5, Camera, Speaker,...and a small hole at the bottom for the Mic. The Power button and the Volume rocker button are covered....(No cutouts).....and that works great.
I found the phone itself just too slippery,....and I found the feel and weight of the SGS just not quite right (for me). After slipping on this soft rubber case (skin) my SGS now 'feels' perfect. No more slipping, and the slight increase in size feels great. Of course the very slight weight increase is next to nothing.....but as I said...all factors together make it feel just perfect in my hand. I absolutely love it !
I was going to post the brand for all to see but when I checked out the name on the web nothing came up. The name on the package was JIT Mobile...but I'm sure that's just a name slapped on it (and others) by a distributor. If anyone wants....I can take a few pics and try to post them.
Anyway, each person has their own preferances and this soft rubber version may not be for everyone.....but it works perfectly for me.
Good luck in your search for the best cover for your SGS....I've found mine !

I also have a black silicone case for my Galaxy S. It's smooth, but not slippery. I don't know what the brand is, as I got it from a cell phone kiosk in the mall. So I can only assume it's some generic brand from overseas. But it does the job.

It has openings for the headset jack, multifunction usb jack, camera, backside speaker, and microphone. The volume key and power key is covered, but there's a convex button that goes over the keys, which you can feel and press to activate the associated key.

There's also an opening on the left side, just above the volume key, that exposes an opening. I don't know what this port is for, and it's not stated in my manual. But the manual's picture does show the port. Does anyone know what this is for?

The case itself doesn't add much weight to the original phone. The fit is snug, yet is still easily removable. The texture is really smooth, like a baby's behind. When you hold it in your palm, it doesn't slip or slide, even when it's hot outdoors and my palms/fingers are slightly perspired. There's no sign of finger prints or oily residue after handling. As for the perspiration, a simple wipe with a cloth (or your shirt) dries it off sufficiently.

Dimension-wise, the case adds maybe 1/8th of an inch around the perimeter of the phone, or just a few millimeters. It's still barely noticeable.

Overall, I really like this case and am glad I found that kiosk after my unsuccessful searches at other various department stores (ATT, Verizon, Sprint, Best Buy, Radio Shack, T-Mobile).

I got myself a number of silicone cases as well as the harder ABS cases, however, none of them compare to the CaseMate Tough case that I currently have on my SGS.

It has two parts - a silicone case and an outer ABS case for added protection. Doesn't add that much bulk either and it certainly feels more protected.

    Can be had for

i have a leather flip PDAIR case for mine, yes it adds bulk but i know my phone is completlely protected. I've been looking at the other hard back cases but i dont feel they offer enough protection. As for the silicon cases, they lose their shape after a while and become very flimsy on the device, hence why i wont get one.

I went with a zagg skin and a 2 piece case from casemate.
Love it rubber interior skin pritects from shocks and the hard
exterior takes care of the rest.

Orbit Flex Krusell Premium Leather Case is good if you want belt clips etc. See my review (Oxford) on MobileFun website.

I got the black silicone one, as a stop gap measure, and it does the job, but it's quite slack and sadly getting slacker. It would be far better if it was a tight fit. It can start to come off in my pocket, sometimes but not often.

I ordered a I-Nique one yesterday, soft brown leather. I already have the same style of case for my Sony Reader and it's great, so I know what I'm getting into.

I got a transparent silicone type case for my S. Originally I wasn't going to bother, however I have found the phone to be rather slippery, plus the case will protect if I where to drop it. I didn't want the type of case where one has to remove the phone from the case to use it, this kind of defeats the object of the case.

I received this one 2 days ago and am very happy with it.
It's very little but the phone does get a little bit thicker (it is a very slim phone to begin with)
It is made in soft-to-the-touch plastic and feels really nice to handle. The stand/foot is quite sturdy and it is very hard (nearly impossible) to tip over without really wanting to. The "foot" fastens with a click when closed and Im not sure if it will get loose if/when used often, but I use it all the time when viewing a movie and as a night stand "clock radio" :D

Hi. I don't mean to hijack your thread but I have a related question - anyone know of a holster that will hold the phone with a case on it? I got the hard case with the belt clip but the clip just doesn't feel secure enough for me - I prefer some kind of holster case. Thanks.

Hey, I ended up buying the same case and a few others on ebay.

This case here in particular is awesome. Not to mislead you or take away from your awesome pics but the colour is a lot more black than what is pictured. The pics look like dark blue or something.

Great feel for the case, and it feels like good quality. Adds a little bulk, but with the Galaxy S being so thin, it just makes it as big as an iPhone.

The little stand is sick, but I can see it getting loose with more usage. And to play devil's advocate one more time, I wish it covered the silver bezel a lil better.

    Overall, highly recommend !
