Need some inputs on the best widgets for Clock and Weather.
Weather Widget Donate is the best I've found
Beautiful widgets by far and weather channel for detailed weather
I wish Beautiful Widgets and Weather Widget Donate would get together and make the ultimate set. I don't have my Droid yet, but from what I've read that both seem to have holes that the other fills nicely.
Weather Widget is skinnable and has tons of cool skins to try out and has some slick animations once you click on the weather icon. But it has some issues with updating properly-GPS always on trying to find your location, problems with sunrise/sundown icon delays, weather only updates manually. Beautiful Widgets has only the one type of clock and doesn't have quite the bells and whistles, but seems to have perfect functionality.
Now that I've got my Droid and have tried both of the programs, it's even more frustrating!
Beautiful Widget is well, beautiful. It has high-res graphics which look great on the Droid. But no animations.
Weather Widget uses lower-res graphics, but has slick animations and a cool feature which connects you to the weather app of your choice after clicking on the three day forecast to get more detailed info. But it seems to have a few more update bugs and that clunkier day/night graphic update system.
They really could have a perfect app if they joined forces. But I think I give the edge to Beautiful Widget for the polished look. If Weather Widget updated their graphics and improved the functionality, it'd be the winner.
I use Digital Clock Widget. It shows the time, date and day. You can change the color and the back ground. It is free. I have not settled on a weather widget yet.
I use 'retro clock' and 'retro date' widgets on the top of my main homescreen. Tapping the date links you straight to the calendar and tapping the clock links you to your alarms. Both are very nice and are the flip style like the old alarm clocks back in the day.
For weather, I use the Weather Channel widget, which displays the temp and weather on the home screen, and if you set a place for home, puts the temp in the notification bar. Very useful app and has a lot of information as far as same day, 36 hr, and 10 day weather reports, plus can handle multiple locations.
"Weather Widget" is good. But i've found I like "Weather Forecast Widget" a bit better. It's the only widget I've ever purchased.
If you have the screen space, it can also give you calendar entries with the weather. Very nice.
Beautiful Widget by far and I have both programs. Beautiful Widget also displays the weather info in landscape which Weather Widget Donate does not do.
i use beautiful home, by beautiful widgets. no issues with it, but it would be nice to have animations.
I'm using Digital Clock Widget and Weather Forecast Widget. I bought Weather Forecast Widget so I could change the skins and background.
beautiful widgets | All | By date, Androlib, Android Applications and Games
Beautiful set of widgets with a nice looking design inspired by the HTC Hero/Eris/Sense interface. Works wonderfully with the Verizon Droid.
Cost is in Pounds and worth every USA penny!
I use and love Beautiful widgets as well but maybe I'm not understanding what some folks are talking about.
Do you not get animations when you click on the weather? I've seen animations for sunny, cloudy, raining, fog, etc.. I
This thread is almost 2 weeks old, and was dug up for I don't know what reason.
A week ago, Beautiful widgets didn't have animations. A recent update enabled them.
I was very satisfied with it before, and now it is even better!
Highly recommend it.
Um..kind of rude. On what planet is 2 weeks old considered too old to comment?
Staying on topic, I use Weather Widget Donate btw.
cause someone wanted to give beautiful widgets some props
Beautiful Widgets deserves props...the Beautiful Home widget in the pack (the clock/weather widget) is one of the coolest things on my phone.
The new animations adding a bit of fun to it's existing functions. Highly recommend.
Calm down fellas. The reason I stated the age of the thread is because some of the older posts now contain misinformation, such as the one quoted earlier about how Beautiful Widgets do not have animations.
I just wanted to point out that if you're going to dig up an old thread, make sure you notice that it's old and things could have changed since.
Absolutely. It sure deserves it.
Weather Bug. As a hobbiest weather spotter, I find Weather Bug to have the most accurate reports, best notifications, and a fantastic widget. I like it so much I bought the Elite version for a buck.
Retro Clock. Big beautiful numbers.
I tried a number of weather and clock widgets.
Tried Weather Widget...it was OK but kept losing location and prompting me to re-enter. Perhaps it was a glitch in the free version but it made me not want to try the paid version.
Weather Channel's widget was nice but didn't like the blue background. If they had offered custom background colors I may have stuck with it. Weatherbug was the same for me as weather channel. I think the weatherbug app is also very good.
Finally I shelled out the $1 for Beautiful Home and I love it. It was the 1st app I paid for and it was well worth it. I didn't like having separate clock/weather and this combo is awesome. I still have the weather channel App on my desktop for forecasts/conditions in multiple cities.
Just ran through those mentioned except for beautiful and I find weather Bug the best. Like the size of the widget, the amount of info, and it has temperature in the notification bar.
i found weather bug to be a battery drainer. i'm using weather channel and like it.
snowstorm is a good free weather widget
How'd you find weather bug to be a drain? My battery lasts an amazingly long time and I always have weather bug on.
