I've been looking around but haven't found anything great. Every time I look at them I see some scary complaints like its constantly overheating to some very high temperatures, the battery goes bad after only a few months, the battery swells up like a bomb about to go off, battery critically fails during charging melting the phone and burning a hole in someone's floor, etc... or it just comes with a really crappy case that is either cheap plastic that doesn't protect the phone or is well made but the holes are wrong, like the one for the IR for wireless apps is missing and the headphone hole is too small.

Isn't there just one good one that doesn't block holes, isn't dangerous, and will actually work and keep working for a long time?

Looks like its not available anymore, also it makes the phone thicker which obviously means no cases made for the S5 will fit. I've never seen any protective cases designed for this.

Its a nice thought and I like how it makes the camera flat on the back but I'm not using my phone bare with no protective case. I know my self and I have no delusions of me being some super mindful guy who never breaks anything I own. I'm clumsy sometimes and have broken a list of things in some pretty entertaining comical ways, and I accepted that about my self a long time ago. :D

In that case, be wary of any so-called extended batteries that claim to offer a much longer battery life and yet still retain the same size as the original battery.

Yeah, you know there were a bunch of those on Amazon a year back. I even had some links to them saved. Now ALL of them... GONE. Every single one of them. The links are all dead. Did I miss something? Did a bunch of people die in fires caused by smart phone extended life batteries? "A nation in shock, news at eleven!" That kind of thing? Was there some investigation ending with people in suits being led away in handcuffs and everyone pointing fingers at some manufacturer in China, then tons of batteries being pulled from the market? I never saw any articles or heard anything, and now suddenly I'm noticing all the ones I was looking at earlier are off the market. All my saved links go to dead Amazon pages, and these batteries all had great ratings.

IMO, only buy the OEM Samsung battery.

I have never had a problem with the original one that came with my phones.
I have two Galaxy S5 phones, and one Note 4.... all of them give me good battery life.

the Note 4 seems to give me about twice as much run time for the same type use as the S5...
I use them side by side pretty much.... the S5 on WiFi and the Note 4 has my SIM card in it.

I've been using this for about six months. It has more than doubled battery time compared with the stock battery and I've had no problems whatsoever. One thing to be aware of is it's noticeably thicker and heavier than the stock battery. It still fits nicely in my front jeans pocket though. You also lose the water resistance.

Hi, it would be far easier to buy one of these and a second original battery, just swap it over as needed and when you get home just pop the flat one on charge. The original battery is not bulky and takes up no room in the pocket, or wherever, unlike the external battery charger packs, I always keep the spare in one of those sealable plastic bags to avoid shorting it out. No. Looks well dodgey and with an exaggerated capacity claim... 5380mAh!!!

What is, "Samsung GALAXY S5 GT-I9600(International Version)"? (Apart from being a clone phone). The correct Samsung designation for the international model is, SM-G900F.

Here's the one I bought that has been working really well for at least six months. It's massive and it really does last much longer between charges. I unplug the charger in the morning and the battery is often over 75% at night.

Looks great, i don't like the fact that it makes the phone thicker tho.... The battery life sounds terrific! Not sure what I'll do yet. Thanks everyone!

Yeah, the battery is massive, but I got used to it :)

  18. You really should not buy that "extended" battery. There is no way it can possibly have over 5000mah capacity and be the same size as the stock 2800mah one, if that were possible don't you think Samsung would have made it that way in the first place? Think how many more phones they would have sold as a result-
By the laws of physics and how battery chemistry works, if you want to increase the capacity of a rechargeable battery by a significant amount it HAS to be physically larger. There are no exceptions, not even on Ebay. ;)
If you are dissatisfied with the battery life on your S5, especially if you bought it used, it's very possible the original battery is weak and needs to be replaced. Remove the battery from the phone and visually inspect it, if it's at all swollen (see if it sits flat on a table or if it rocks/spins) it must be replaced asap. If that is the case replace it with a new OEM one, preferably from a store that is an authorized Samsung dealer as there are a lot of fakes selling online.
Beyond the battery itself, there are plenty of things you can do on the phone to help with battery life most of which are common sense. Keep the brightness down to the minimum level for visibility, turn off any radios you don't actually need (Bluetooth, GPS, wifi), look at what's running and disable apps or services that are constantly using background data. Some apps such as Facebook are known battery hogs, do some research and get rid of these if you can do without them.Turn off things like push notifications that aren't necessary. And so on.
I do not have an issue with the battery life on my S5, and if you follow the above advice you may not either.

Another option if you still feel you need more run time is to pick up one of the many external battery packs that are available, you can get one in the 5000mah range that can easily be carried in a pocket or laptop/accessory bag.

Great advice[emoji4] the phone and battery were new. I might just buy the battery with thicker back cover
