The F1 app I use is simply called F1 - and can be configured for various RSS feeds. I use the feed from the BBC. The icon is a simple chequered flag.

I was going to say FotMob for football but I think it only goes down to the Championship in England. It's very good though.

I third this, been using it for a long time and never let me down. The dev keeps on introducing new featuers too, like league tables.

Check out F1Android for live times during practice, qually and the race. It's pretty damn cool.

the F1Android app seems to be force quitting on my HTC Hero and taking down the process manager I have at the same time....

I'll hold off reviewing it until they fix it

That's odd, it's never FC on me. Have you notified the dev?

It appears to have fixed itself I can only put it down to network connectivity,

Now its started I can only see the splash screen with the start button.

Does the app only function fully during race events?

Currently it only show the next race event time.

    Regards

Yep, it gets the data direct from formula1.com so it only works when they are publishing live times.

I fourth this. Have tried all (well, all the ones I can find) footy apps and this is my favourite. It includes the scorer of the goal etc - whereas some like a google one I found does not.
