Best mkv video player, no need to convert.

I've experiemented with multiple video players and have gotten poor results. Sound issue and framerate issues all over the place from QQplayer, MX player, Moboplayer, and Rockplayer. The only player that works for me on Nexus is Diceplayer. It has been rock solid so far and handles MKVs very well. Only annoying part is that it is currently only available in trial version.

mx video player works nearly perfect for me. playing 720p mkv tv shows and movies with no issues really. except that sound gets out of sync sometimes if i seek. but that is corrected easily by seeking back about a second or two. not a big deal at all. and its free.

Even though I have a rezound, not a GNex, I fully agree that Diceplayer is the best player on the market, especially for mkvs. I thought MX Player was pretty good but the hardware decoding ability of mkv files on diceplayer results in far superior picture quality. Totally worth the $6 it cost. Too bad you can't get it anymore.

Dice player is good but it's not as polished as MX Player. Unfortunately, MX Player can't do full speed hardware decode of MKVs yet (dev is working on it). Both are great options and they both play soft subs (yay anime fans!).

MX player is more polished, I agree, but the syncing of sound is pretty bad. I found the sound to be unacceptable with eveything but Dice. Hopefully MX comes through in the end. I just don't wanna have to convert mkvs anymore and my Dice trial is gonna end.

speaking of videos. I'm don't know what all the file extensions mean but maybe you guys can help me. I have a video shot from a phone camera i used to own. I can't remember which one it was but maybe it was a WM phone. It looks like it is a "Quicktime" movie. How can i play that? I transfered it to the SGN but it won't play. It comes up with some error message.

I like MOBOPlayer. Before installing I could not open or save .wmv files from emial or gmail. Now its my global player.

Yep, Dice Player is the way to go especially if you play scene releases (since most other players will only do DTS decoding OR hardware acceleration but not both).

Dice Player is the only one I've tried that does true HW acceleration.

Although I'm having trouble playing AVI video files right now, I'm sure it'll work once the GN is officially supported by the developer.
