I searched through a ton of news apps and the few that do have widgets are all the same size as the 2.1 widget. Any that used to be larger have been shrunk in size. I would suggest just grabbing the 2.1 apk as it is one of the few that actually scrolls headlines within the widget, and it does a decent job of tracking custom topics.

that widget sucks and just gets stuck on a single story, at least on the htc incredible.

why are there no fullsize widgets?

I am not joking when I say this: Find the right folks on Twitter, follow them, and use the official Twitter app for Android made by Twitter.

Makes it easier than sifting through a widget with limited news sites, or having a resource hog like one that subscribes to well over 50 sites simultaneously....

Is there an official release acknowledging that Google knows it's broken? Or is this something that's just floating around the forums? I hate having a broken widget, especially when it was my go-to news widget. So, I'm particularly interested in any equivalent replacement as well.

Wow mine stayed blank and unavailable but I hit "refresh" and it all came back up. Must be the news aggregator. Not sure who runs the widget or who pays them to do the work... but it sure is a handy thing :)
