So i'm looking to overclock my droid x but I don't know a ton about it (appropriate batt and processor temps) and I don't want to screw up my phone, i'm just looking to make my phone a little faster or save battery depending on the circumstances.

Any advise on tactics or apps to use?

I like QuickClock. Its essentially automated. And I think it was free if I remember right

I vote quick clock advanced. However, I hardly ever use it since the Gingerbread leak. I see no need to. The thing flies.

I use droid overclock..it does everything I need and has tons of extras that I haven't touched yet, but could be useful to others.

My vote is for Droid Overclock but I haven't used Quick Clock so I'm not knocking it. Droid Overclock is really easy to use.

The Quick Clock app is very easy to use, especially if you're new to overclocking.
