So, I recently gave up on talk radio for my morning and evening commute. I decided I needed something engaging to take my mind off the other drivers.

Curious what podcasts people listen to, and what genres.

    My favorites:
Weekly Planet (Mr Sunday Movies) - Comics, Movies, TV Shows. THE best geek content out there. His Youtube channel has over a million subscribers as well)
    - Honorable mention Suggestible Podcast, which is Mr Sunday Movies and his wife suggesting things.

Batman Beyond - Kevin Smith and Marc Bernardin

So these are my go to for Pop Culture news and Talk.

There is also a great marvel podcast series, Wolverine, which is fully voice acted series with big name actors. Marvel and Stitcher partner on this.

For tech there is a bunch, but Linus Tech Tips (WAN Show) and MKBHD (Waveform) are good ones.

There is also the guy from Impractical Jokers and 2 guys from Comic Book Men who do 'Tell Em Steve Dave' which is pretty good mostly, but I only listen when there is nothing else.

An Evening with David Tenent has been quality stuff as well.

What does everyone else listen to?

    I'm old fashioned and can't help. I'm a news-guy. I never have gotten into podcasts. :(

Great news ones out there too. NPR and BBC to name a couple off top of head.

But yea, I used to be a local talk news guy in car, but more and more it was stuff I didn't want to hear, and I spent entire drive being frustrated. I belive Podcasts during my commute have already saved me years of Stress in past few months.

Podcasts are such a personal thing, we all have such varying interests. But there's such a wide range of shows streaming everywhere now so it's hard not to find content that you just lock onto. But since you're asking, here's a sample of what I listen to (a few regularly, but there's just not enough time so most just sporadically):
    -- for tech issues
Command Line Heroes (one of my favorites, covers a really wide range of topics, from programming to hardware, historic and current)
Security Now (a popular show for online security issues)
Destination Linux (there's a lot of overlap, in content and hosts, with this show and next two) so I don't listen to them all regularly)
    Late Night Linux
    This Week in Linux

    -- current news
    Democracy Now (a daily favorite)
    Rachel Maddow

    -- general topics
The Moth (just collections of stories told by people living their lives)
    This American Life
Ear Hustle (covers life in and out of prison)
The Churn (...if you're a fan of The Expanse)

    -- science related
    This Week in Science
Cosmic Savannah (focuses on astronomy topics)

There are some other podcasts I listen to regularly, like Curious City and Hitting Left, that are very local (Chicago area). There's undoubtedly a lot of local content wherever you reside too.

I just finishing listening to Bag Man: Rachel Maddow Podcast. now it is from MSNBC.....but I guarantee you it is not political in today's sense. it is the story of Vice President Spiro Agnew during Nixon's Watergate scandal. it is fascinating that I do not remember learning about this scandal in history class. I can't believe how corrupt he was. it is a great story and a great podcast to listen to.

I really liked Bag Man too, learned a lot from that.
Back when it was actually happening I was just a kid and all my political exposure at that time was from the viewpoint of Mad Magazine's satirical take on everything.

it's just weird that this was never mentioned in any history book that I have ever read. I think this story has more parallels with what's going on today and that some of those speeches from Spiro Agnew sounds very familiar.

Awesome! I love seeing those gems others listen to. I'm SOOO new to podcasts that, especially at first, it was hard to even know what to search for. I have my favorite geeky content, and some interview type stuff from names I love, but always on the hunt for more interesting content.

The Listen Notes site is a really good source to find podcasts, just do searches for things that interest you.

Did anyone mention Mr. Mobile yet? Not sure if it's a podcast but it's worth listening to for reviews.

I consistently hear about how Reply All is the best podcast ever. I recently listed to a buynch of them and they are truly amazing. The structure and way they do things is incredibly engaging and interesting, especially from a tech perspective.
