What are the best Sense based ROMs out there....One that allows apps to be put on SD card??
[ROM] 08/30/10 | Fresh Hero 2.4.0 | Incremental Update For Freshness - xda-developers
[ROM] Zen-ROM Updated 08-30-2010. - xda-developers
[ROM] NFX-Hero 2.2.1.update1, 9/5/2010 Friendstream+Deodexed/ODEX+JIT & more - xda-developers
is Zen 2.1 or 2.2 based? I think im gonna give it a shot for hoots
Zen is 2.1 based, nothing off froyo 2.2 yet
is cm6 still the only 2.2 based rom for the cdma hero at this point?
Yep so far, but it sounds like when the Aria is upgrading to 2.2, there might be a port that way too
Thanks for the info.....I went with nfx hero.....should I be using a task killer? Ot are they designed not to? Also, what is jit?
I would say no on the task killer, as you have a task killer in manage applications, running services.
JIT is 'just in time'. If you enable it, it can speed up the phone But some have trouble with it enabled and some don't. You'll just have to try it and see if it makes a difference but random reboots or freezes begin to happen, I would disable it
How do you enable or disable JIT?
In which rom?
Some are in different places, some may enable through terminal emulator or some may have it in settings.
I am using NFXHero2.2.
If you read the second paragraph of his NFX thread, posted at the top of this thread, infinite explains gscripts and how to enable jit
did zen every fix the gmail notifications problem? any other problems it has. i clicked on the given link but it would seem to indicated their are no more quirks, bugs, etc. which seems... implausible.
Are there any other ones out there or are these 3 pretty much it?
give it a few days/weeks and the 2.2 sense from the wildfire should be ready to roll on the hero. nfinitefx45 and a few other guys at xda are working on it, and they claim its about 85% ready to roll.
I noticed nfx hero 2.2 has an update. How do I get the update without losing everything on my phone??
I don't think it necessarily an update for NFX. This [ROM] NFX Sprint 2.31.651.7 STOCK Deoxed/Odex Updated:9/27/2010 - xda-developers is based off of the recent Sprint update that they put out. If you are going to try, nandroid, wipe everything: data, Davlik cache and cache, then flash the rom
Okay, this may be a dumb question but here goes. I know how to wipe the data and the Davlik cache but where and how do you wipe the cache?
Yea Gmail works great on my ZenRoms
Some recoveries may not have the option to wipe cache (maybe RA 1.5.2, something like that), just make sure you wipe data and Davlik cache though
I've been using this since 05-Sep, and I have yet to find any issues. Fast and smooth.
Just so we are on the same page, you do recognize this basic feature of Android was broke in previous Zen builds and required manual pull or polling. You get notifications at the top of your screen instantly from Gmail App after you recieve mail? This is great if so... now I don't know which too try. Zen or or NFX. I am getting tired of the lack off free space on Fresh 2.3.3 rom
Zenrom and ZenEXP are both alot quicker than NFXhero, and the gmail issues they used to have have been fixed for awhile now.
interesting. so u are running zen now? and it is sense based correct? i'm going to update today, and am just deciding between zen and nfx. any quirks or caveats w/ zen i should be aware of?
nm. just read up on xda. appears regular zenrom is dead and zenexp is still going, but too many quirks for me listed on 1st page; i also don't want a new theme, and frankly, i don't think even fresh is that slow so i'm sure nfx will be a bump up. it also appears there is more attention to the nfx roms so when in rome...
