That's going to depend more on the kernel you're running than the ROM. There are things you can do outside of flashing a custom kernel, such as: turning auto-syncing off, auto-brightness off, and turning data (3G) off when not browsing, sending emails, or MMS messages. Remember, you can still make/receive calls and send/receive SMS messages while 3G is off. If you flash a custom kernel, you can use SetCPU to under/overclock to help increase battery life, you can also set a screen off profile to help things.
If you decide to flash a custom kernel, I suggest trying: [Kernel]netarchy-toastmod, Stable: 4.3.1 Beta: 4.3.4 (17-Mar-2011) Now With HDMwIn - xda-developers, I and many other forum members have had great success w/ them. Try a more HAVS kernel, then less HAVS *if* the more HAVS proves to be unstable.
I hope this helps.
I agree 100%. CFS with HAVS no sbc, if your phone can handle HAVS. I don't use set cpu, and I get 25 to 30 hours light to moderate use with this type of kernel. Works for me!
i think that mikfroyo, koni and kings sense roms are best for overall performance, speed and stability. if you couple that with the right kernel for you like frenchy and granite said, you should be good to go. you can get them here: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/284413-roms-kernels-download-page.html
