What is the best standalone app for sending SMS/texts from an Android tablet? I don't have an Android smartphone, just a tablet.

Google Voice. It'll send SMS via the internet (free, unlimited), and if you set up a VOIP account you can use it to make calls

Thanks - but I think Google Voice is currently US only - I am in EU/UK.

Until it arrives over here, are there any temporary alternatives for free SMS from a tablet?
