I've read about how the stock Android music app is lacking, so are there any good third party ones?
Mixzing is my favorite so far. I've been using it for a couple of months.
do any of the good ones out there display in landscape mode? the sense ui one stays in portrait, and i'd like to use the kickstand on the evo and use a music player in landscape mode.
MixZing does display in landscape. IMO MixZing, as of right now, is my favorite.
I'm a fan of tunewiki.
TuneWiki is good too. Forgot to mention that one. Lol.
I like TuneWiki as well.
Sometimes, with tunewiki, you get the opportunity to be a hero among many, syncing the lyrics with the songs!
I've been using MixZing to date but I'm now very much liking Museek. It's currently in Beta and heavy development but running very well indeed.
Do tunewiki and Mixzing have nice widgets? I'm using a Desire.
Widget is the most important thing for my music app, but stock music is slow and a little cumbersome. something quicker with a decent widget would be awsome.
i got Btunes, its an iphone/ipod touch clone. Its simple and plays smoothly way better than htc stock player.
+1 for bTunes, well worth the cost (like $2), has a great widget and a lock screen widget, which is really convenient for listening to music in the car (don't have to unlock to change tracks)
I had used MixZing for a while and it was pretty nice, but bTunes is much better in my opinion.
3 (or cubed) is nice but still a little buggy.
MixZing has a good widget.
Any way for the phone to get cover art and stuff for my mp3s? I transferred mp3s to a folder on my sdcard, they play, but there is no cover art.
Try using Album Art Wizard.
There is also a free version.
Album Art Wizard v2.1.6 Application for Android | Entertainment
I think MixZing, bTunes, and 3 (cubed) all will attempt to download album art, assuming you have even moderately helpful ID3 tags.
Is there a way to turn that off, then? I hate album art myself.
Yes, each will let you disable the download, or sometimes restrict it to only download when you're connected to a wifi hotspot.
Do any of the third party apps have eq capability?
Some of my MP3s need a little equlization to sound right on portable players.
Which ones of these have bookmarking, which is helpful when listening to podcasts?
Btunes is excellent. Most important feature, it supports skipping music from a wired headset. Sweeeeeet!!!
FYI: I just tried btunes and tunewiki and neither were able to find my internal memory in the HTC incredible.
Anyone know of a music play that actually can read this stupid partition? I know the Astro Media player can but I'm not a big fan of the interface...
Just gave MixZing a try. Not bad but I don't like the "now playing" list. Regardless of whether you are browsing Artists, Songs or Albums, when you select "Play All" it creates a list of songs sorted by song name and not by Artist. This makes browsing a playlist very frustrating Plus there is no way to generate a playlist of your whole library that sorted by artist (unless you add each artist individually).
Does no one else like to browse a playlist that is organized and clearly labeled by Artist?
