    Hey everyone,
Hopefully a quick simple question. Is there any browser I can use (hopefully the default one) that will prevent a specific site from being accessed? It's really only one site I need to have blocked on the phone, but I can't seem to figure out how to do it.

Before everyone tells me to just not go to that site, believe me when I say it's much more complicated than that.

Just don't go to the site, that's not complicated...........and if the issue is human, well no site blocker will help

I just searched and so far it looks like the answer is no. Seems Android isn't all about blocking anything and no Devs are picking up that slack

It has nothing to do with porn, and it's not my droids, it's my sons. He's not computer savvy enough to use a proxy or anything, but there is a specific site he isn't allowed to go on, pretty much ever. Yes, he will find an alternative to the site, and that is fine, there is just one specific site I would like to block on his phone. Thanks sinful for the helpful post. I know it's an extremely uncommon feature, but it's so easy on home computers, I thought it would be easy on the droid.

I just gotta know what site it is that you are trying to block, especially since you have stated that it is not porn. My curiosity is killing me right now. You don't even have to give a specific site name, but just a category (ie religion, government, gaming, etc).

Also, I cannot find anything that would block a specific site (or list of sites for that matter). You may wish to try posting a request for such a thing here: Application Requests - Android Forums and see what happens.

Just remember, that if it can be installed, it can also be uninstalled just as easily. Well, unless you root the Droid, install to the root apps folder, then unroot the Droid. Then he would have to root it again just to uninstall it. But none the less, it may be worth a try.

I don't know if they can do it our not but try calling Verizon and see if they can block that specific site. I know they can set filters by rating, block text messages and such maybe they can do it by your specific phone number. Sorry but that is all I can think of to try.

If you are rooted, you could edit the hosts file. This is how AdFree blocks ads. Just add a line that points the domain you want blocked to the wrong IP (maybe 127.0.0.1).

Syrnia - it's a long complicated story that I have no desire to share, though I'm sure my silence will get me mocked =(. Thanks everyone for their help! I really appreciate it.

Not mocked, but it does give us the chance to guess. My guess: marvinrock doesn't care if his son sees porn, he just doesn't want him to stumble upon his own porn site. ???

But in all seriousness, are you able to edit the hosts file?
