Fingerprint reader location be damned. As one gets used to properly locating the phone (from the face) and muscle memory kicks in, the iris scanner is practically instantaneous without any image even appearing on the scanning window. It just takes a few days of practice focusing on properly holding the phone and unlocking becomes a simple single swipe of the screen. Love it.
