So this might be too soon but, has anyone removed any of the bloatware that came with your phone yet? im not a person to do a root or anything of that nature, however sprint and the factory preloaded crap is abundent on this phone.

Package Disabler. $1.49...It's been recommended a few times on here for dealing with bloated Samsungs.

If the phone isn't rooted, removing or disabling whatever preinstalled crapware user and carrier apps should be OK.

Someone mention on xda that the pack disabler was no longer working after some flavor of android (possible i misread this) and used some program called "ignite" or "ignition something". Saw the post yesterday which made me ask about this.

Ive only had unlocked non branded phones the last few flagships so i need to get back up to speed on such things.

I dont root and just keep the phone virgin so that wont be an issue for me.

Right about now is when people on these forums sho ould be dropping links how to properly get rid of this trashware, and how toi fiddle with the developer options to make it run smoother and faster. I kinda did a mini version myself but my not techh guy I just love great phones

Bloatware? Don't you like Samsung's "featured apps"?

    :p

Go to Settings --> Apps --> Application Manager and scroll down to bloat you don't want and DISABLE it. If it asks if you want to install the factory version, select YES. It will disappear.

If you want to get it all in one shot (and have the app for the next Samsung device), you can buy Package Disabler Pro and it will kill everything for you. Just be mindful you don't wipe out any wanted apps.

Thanks. I really don't like how a heart is the only way I can say your reply was good.

What about Bixby. It seems like something from the show silicone valley. Someone lost a bet and had too I include some ridiculous talking app. Can we can that thing or are we stuck with it

You're stuck with it. You don't have to USE it (I do, and it's surprisingly good and gets better the more you use it) but right now Bixby is a system app that cannot be deleted without messing up everything.

Because you have Siri with Apple, and so you must have Bixby with Samsung.

We talk to Alexa and Google Home and to our phones through Siri and now Bixby and of course lots of #social media. But do we still talk to each other face to face?

    Hi All,
I am new to smart phones and to Samsung/Android phones. I couldn't stand my iphone and bought a Note 8. I am looking for a list of apps with descriptions installed by Samsung and Verizon as I would like to delete/freeze/disable the ones I don't want or invade my privacy or suck resources or replace with better. Please let me know where I might find such a list. Thank you very, very much!!!

The problem with disabling all that bloatware is that you also lose access to Samsung's 15Gb of cloud backup. At least that has been my experience as I have had to re-enable all Samsung apps before backups would go through every time.

    Hi All,
Thanks for the feedback. It is much appreciated, but it doesn't really answer my question. Had already read about rooting, custom ROMS and Package Disabler. I was hoping to find a list with descriptions so I could make a better choice of what to keep or get rid of. Thanks.

there are many different flavors of this device out in the wild, so what I may have on my device , you may not have on yours.

so its not easy to just put up a "one size fits all" list of apps to disable.

maybe you should just use the phone normally without disabling anything and as you see apps that you don't use, close them.

the phone has plenty of memory, CPU to run smooth with what's on it. why break something that's not broken?

It's not breaking. It's tweaking. Some times when I buy a new car I want yo take out everything that doesn't make it run. It's about 300-500 pounds. And that's a Honda civic.
