Help Bluetooth weirdness

So my girlfriend recently got the Optimus Elite after seeing my success with my own OE, both of our OEs being our introduction to the owning-a-smartphone world, and recently decided it would be cool to share files wirelessly between our OEs a la Bluetooth (we're both music buffs). The trouble is, while we can see each other's OEs and pair them, they will not "connect." Long-pressing on the device brings up Unpair and Connection Access, of the latter the only options are Automatic and Ask. Except there's no "asking" to connect, on either OE to the other OE, and so we're left with Pair but Not Connected.

Any help would be awesome as to how to get our OEs connected!

NOTE: I have tried one possible solution I found on XDA (I think), which involved clearing the data of two bluetooth related files (names and.... locations?), and that hasn't helped.

The phone alone doesn't allow you to transfer music or file via Bluetooth very well. Your best best is to download an app like Bluetooth File Transfer from the play store onto both of the phones and that should allow you to do what you want

That's what I'm shooting for, the problem is that there is no connection established between the devices to begin with.

Also, now Bluetooth is stuck in an on/off cycle whenever I try to enable it now. Tried pulling the battery, uninstalling a couple of radio (music, not calling) apps, restarting the phone, etc. Unless I turn it off, Bluetooth - upon attempting to turn it on - will turn off after a couple seconds, then back on on its own, then back off, rinse, repeat. Any ideas?
