New to Tablets/pads etc but am familiar with PC/laptops but the way this tablet works is still new to me. Can't stand not understanding how it works:) When I first set the Tab 2 up and looking around (dangerous) I found the app "Play Book". Since one of the reasons I bought the Tab 2 was to download books ala Kindle etc I looked at this app. To my surprise there were three books showing there. Two of which I had looked at online with my desktop long before I got the Tab 2. The third one was not familiar but possibly I may have looked at it but don't remember doing so.

I tapped on one of the books and it comes up (not sure if it downloaded or what) and I can see the entire 564 pages and the response time is quick so I assume it downloaded it to the Tab 2. But when I go to the "download" app where the manual says I can see what I have downloaded there is nothing there! i couldn't believe the entire book is resident on the Tab 2 but I can set the Tab 2 in airplane mode and still read it so it has to be on the Tab 2. My question is if its on the hard drive, and I assume it is how do I now delete it? Out of curiosity how did the three books just show up in the Play Book apps when I did not do anything to get them there???

    1. Download the Forums for Android™ app!

I looked under my Play Book (for the first time?) and found 3 public domain titles there, too. Mine weren't available offline, so you must have downloaded it (?). Or maybe it came pre-loaded. (I got my tab back last fall.)

You might want to get the Amazon App Store app (through Amazon, if I recall) and Amazon's Kindle app. Amazon has loads of available free titles, too.

WOW! Those are even on my phone (which has somewhat limited space). Seems like they must be in memory somewhere, I did nothing to download them? can't figure out where they are? Weird and good question?

Oh and my guess is they are laoded right into the app (which came preloaded on the phone). They must be highly compressed as the app itself doesn't take up that much space.

Using My Files, try /storage/sdcard0/Android/data/com.google.android.apps.books/files/accounts/[your registered google account]/volumes/

I have three showing on my phone, though it looks like initially there is only the cover images, if you decide to download them, I suspect they will end up there.

As it is, I think I already have two, if not all three of these books downloaded for one of my other reader programs on the external SD card.

The three titles I have, BTW are Treasure Island, The Three Musketeers, and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.

I recommend the Kindle app, particularly if you have multiple Android devices, because you can synchronize your reading between devices.

The three titles listed in mine are Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Great Expectations and Pride and Prejudice on my tablet and phone.

I do not see the .books part in /storage/sdcard0/Android/data/com.google.android.apps.books. I was just curious.

I checked the path you gave and the books are not there. I know I shouldn't let this bother me but it does! One of the books is the Life of General Daniel Morgan and one is Chronicles of the Scotch-Irish, not books you would expect Samsung to ship with the tablet! Yet I can put the Tablet in airplane mode (no internet access) and I can read the books so they MUST be resident on the Tablet. Where are they? How do I delete them when I am through?

As I understand it. When you acquire a Kindle book, it (or a link) is stored in your part of the remote Kindle database: Your Archive. Thus you can access it from any of your devices. You can however download it physically to any one of them for offline reading. When you no longer want it on your device you may delete it but it remains on your (remote) archive.

To delete a book from your device go to the local catalogue of covers. Touch and hold on the selected cover and select 'Remove from device' from the menu.
