they didnt disconnect him because he rooted. they cant even tell if its rooted. the only possible reasons i can come up with why he is disconnected is
A, he reset his profile settings then went to a custom rom before setting it back up (like i explained you cant set up a phone with a custom rom installed, it has to be set up already)
B, he installed a rom that has a bad cdma modem setup so he still has service he just cant use it because the phone wont connect to anything (some roms like cyanogenmod for the original warp for instance havent gotten all the bugs worked out so you cant use all the features, in that case you cant use the internet at all)
C, he did something else that wasnt so legal and got caught like for instance using a sprint htc evo with a boost samsung galaxy prevail serial number and internet info to trick them into activating it (but who would do a thing like that? :D)
D, he didnt pay his bill (most likely answer)

oh yea, i thought of two more reasons
E, they manually reprogrammed their phones connection info incorrectly
F, they called boost customer service, asked how to hack the phone, and only succeeded in pissing boost off

true, but regardless, they have no way of knowing. theyd have to go through everyones data on every phone that uses boost mobile individually to figure that out. i had a rooted sprint htc evo, with the cyanogenmod custom rom, and a modified serial number (that IS illegal) for most of a year, and they never even caught me doing it let alone tried to do anything to stop me. my buddy saves $5 a month by making them think his android phone is a cheap sanyo phone so he doesnt have to pay more for the android plan

honestly i dont think they give a shit, boost doesnt make that much money, sprint is where the real money is, so they could care less if boost flops. plus they still have virgin mobile as well. sprint owns them all and couldnt give two shits about them, that is why customer service is so horrible they actually try to make sure you cant talk to a person and if you manage to navigate their maze of menus and get someone on the phone you cant understand their accent and they have no idea what theyre talking about

the boost service is ridiculously cheap, the only way they make any money is by charging you an arm and a leg for the phones, they charge hundreds of dollars for the boost mobile versions of phones that sprint gives away for free. they dont care if you keep the service they just want you $300 for $50 worth of phone
