Okay normally I would do this myself but as you may know I don't have a computer. Doing it on the phone is ultra frustraTing. Can someone please make me a hosts file with the latest ad blocking stuff BUT with these sites not blocked:

ads.Hulu.com
p.Hulu.com
ad.fly

The former two are required for the Hulu app to work. The last one is because everyone in the world now runs their downloads through ad fly.

Currently I've been using adfree from big tin can and just reverting to stock hosts when I need to use one of those sites.

It would be super appreciated!

Can they be added into exception within the app?

Not in ad free anyway...that I know of. I can edit it manually in a text editor but those hosts files are huge and finding all the pertinent stuff is a nightmare. Plus with me switching roms a lot lately it gets fRustrating.

Btw why do the ad block hosts even block the Hulu ones? They only serve video ads to Hulu... no where else and they are required to make it work...So why block it?

I tried it...So far white list not working. Hulu still fails with unable to load a message from our sponsors. Even though the aforementioned sites are white listed. Maybe I'm not using wildcards right? How would you put those entries in the white list? I put them in just like they are above...do I need wildcards?

If you still need:

How do I apply this??

You gotta have root and a file explorer that supports root access. With that, rename the download to just "hosts" without the quotes. Then copy it to /system/etc which is not on your sd card but your internal memory. It should say there is already a file there with that name, so choose to overwrite it.

Also before you do any of that you might want to copy your current /system/etc/hosts somewhere as a backup. I know that merc's file is solid but it never hurts to be cautious.

Btw two things to add here. After you copy hosts don't forget to set permissions to rwrwrw.

Also and this is totally my fault. The site is adf.ly not ad.fly so this hosts still blocks that. But that's exactly what I asked for... oops!
