I'm not sure of my root status because I followed the sticky

    http://androidforums.com/boost-mobi...30-guide-mk5-wip-rooting-mk5-4-3-newbies.html

And I tried doing the TriangleAway.apk. Followed every single step and it says "Are you sure you gave permission or are rooted?"

When I try running TriangleAway, it doesn't give me an option for Super User to grant permission. I just want to return the phone back to its original condition, with the counter set to 0 because apparently it's still under warranty.

    DOWNLOAD MODE SAYS THIS

This is what my phone says

    ODIN MODE
    Product Name SPH-L710
Custom Binary Download: Yes (3 counts)
    Current Binary: Samsung Official
    System Status: Custom
    Qualcomm Secureboot : Enable
    Warranty Bit: 1
    Bootloader AP SWREV: 1

Title should say "Reset counter to 0" not remove.

Just for reference, my phone is MK5. Android Version 4.3.

Did your phone update to 4.3 OTA before you rooted it? If so it has Knox and there is no way to reset the counter.

Will Samsung automatically say no if the counter is greater than 0?

Maybe maybe not, but they certainly have the right to since the warranty is void. If it's a hardware issue that wasn't caused by rooting then I'd say you have a good chance of them still warrantying it. If you don't mind me asking why do you need to send it to Samsung anyway?

If its 4.3 I'm pretty sure it has Knox.
If not then it should be 4.1.2.
In that case you could try and find a stock 4.1.2 WITH a stock recovery in zip format. I'm not sure they have a zip with the stock recovery in it.....only one I've found doesn't have the stock recovery, just the ROM. If you find one please let me know.

After you find that what you do is this..... Before going back to stock, since your in root already run triangle away, clear out the counter. Once your done reboot to recovery and flash the zip. After that when you boot back up you won't have any counters and you'll be stock.

The reason for zip flashing is, it doesn't trigger the triangle. Mobil Odin doesn't trigger it either, but you can't flash modems with mobile Odin, that's why I prefer zip flashing.
PC Odin is pretty much guaranteed to trip the triangle.

If you're not knoxed up then you could use the md7 stock Odin image I made... flash it then download superSU and triangle away and run both... then use superSU to unroot from it's options.

Or in the same op thread i also have md7 Kies Odin image, which would be a 1 stop shop and it would have every stock partition including recovery

Won't using odin throw the triangle again? so even if you use supersu to un-root it it will still have the single triangle trigger from this last odin.

That's why I suggested zip flashing, because it doesn't trip the triangle.

I was under the idea that using pc odin always tripped stuff such as knox, and triangle, and that's why they made mobile odin as a work around, or maybe I'm just understanding it wrong.

    Hello

I am sending it because it makes a crackling static sound whenever I listen to music or make a phone call or have my sound on the phone pretty much. Tried flashing a Rom but no help either.

The phone already had 4.3 on it when I got it. Do you think I can just downgrade to 4.1.2 and then do the steps you told me to do?

Or will that just make the phone worse?

Not if it has Knox, no.
You can check and see. Just shut the phone off. Hold down vol down + home button + power, that will get you to download mod and should show if it has Knox or not.
To my understanding if you try and revert back with Knox, you'll brick the phone.

Agreed, it is my understanding that Triangle Away should not be used in a Knox situation.

    If not knoxed. .

I do believe that the md7 Kies Odin image will reset the counter to 0 because it is a 100% Samsung stock image of almost every partition on the phone... you can always check by going into download mode after.

If you don't use the Kies image and use one that I made you will need to download superSU and triangle from play store. Run both. Then unroot

You have a link to the kies one?

I'll give it a shot and see if it works. Like to have a stock room + stock recovery in case I need to send in for repairs ever.

You are Knoxed up, that is indicated by the last two lines. Did you get your phone straight from Virgin? If you did, they should replace it in a situation where the phone is having physical issues that have nothing to do with rooting. My understanding is that VM is very lenient about returns anyway, they just want you to be happy with a working phone.

As a side note, please don't make posts like this. I personally am helping three people at the same time as I type this, in addition to various browsing and texting activities. We are all trying to help here, and that is true for all posts on the forums, we have some very helpful members who will respond in a timely fashion. Posts like that one just come across as ungrateful, as if we should all be at the beck and call of users who need help.

Forgot I was in the Boost section when I referenced VM earlier! I would still just contact Boost and see what they can do for you. You probably don't even need to offer the info that you are rooted unless they ask first, just describe your main problem and go from there.

They gave me the typical "Put your phone into recovery, destroy every single cache you can"

    Did that. :( didn't work.

Call them back and ask for someone higher up, like a supervisor who is in America, not India. This sounds like a physical speaker issue to me, and has nothing to do with ROM, caches, etc. Don't hang up until you get some satisfactory response from them, even if you need the supervisor of the supervisor. Somewhere along the line, they have to take care of you as a customer, regardless. Don't threaten obviously, but make clear that this could lead to negative word of mouth.

I went to my Application Manager and Samsung Knox is not showing up.

    Is it hidden?
